Edit:
Pikemen are op now it seems.
Here's a video of our latest 2v2's. I was Flanders and could easily beat the combined Venetian/Polish armies (also because of a pop bug where the player playing Venice was pop capped all the time even after losing soldiers but that wasn't the only reason).
The extra armor for infantry certainly contributed to it as well even though Flanders always has been one of the strongest civs. I think it shows that the pikemen shouldn't get the extra pierce armor. Also Flander's main weakness used to be archers but now that's gone and they're definitely op.
In that game we found a bug with Venice's population.
It's caused by the Stradiot which has resource storage mode 1 enabled instead of 2. Thus giving a population bug.
Btw now that Venice's stradiots cost gold they're less good as before. Any chance Venice can get something in return for that?
